In April of 2012 we dug the first post-hole preparatory to building our roundhouse. Things have moved along nicely and now we are in the position where it is nearly finished. We do not want to completely finish it is we want it to be an ongoing project so that children can get involved over the next few years.

Following 2 years of excavation over aerial photograph indications of an Iron Age roundhouse, we have uncovered a monumental ring-ditch roundhouse with dating evidence in the form of pottery placing it firmly in the later Iron Age. There is also evidence of iron-working on site. We return to the site on 21st June for a third and hopefully final year of excavation.

Our end-of-project conference will take place in the village hall on 14th June 2014-free tickets still available. Just contact for details.

We will be carrying out the fourth Big School Dig in  2014 with the local schoolchildren at North Duffield School and we are invited back to  Chapel Haddlesey School for a second year to investigate an old mill site.
