The first true archaeological excavation ever in the village was carried out in 2012, by Archaeology North Duffield. We were aware of indications in fields surrounding the village of human activity going back into early history and therefore, we decided to try to confirm these indications.

We chose the site carefully both to test our planning and excavation skills on a relatively uncomplicated site before moving, in due course, to more intricate indications.

The results of our activities are therefore explained in two separate reports over the last two years-Exploring the Iron Age’ and ‘Dig 13’.

The reports can be found on the pages so named (see navigation) or click on the hyperlinks above.
